Math Tutoring
Dyscalculia, also called Mathematics Learning Disorder, is a common and often overlooked learning difference that affects how people understand and work with numbers. Dyscalculia is a brain-based condition, not caused by lack of effort or intelligence. Signs can show up differently for each person, but the challenges often begin with understanding basic concepts like quantities and arithmetic and can become more noticeable as students progress into algebra and beyond.
Many everyday activities require basic math skills—cooking, shopping, managing time, and following directions all depend on what is known as number sense. For students with dyscalculia, these daily tasks can feel overwhelming and frustrating. The good news is that with the right support and strategies, children and adults with dyscalculia can build skills, gain confidence, and overcome challenges in math.
At Dyslexia Practitioner NJ, we offer individualized math tutoring at every level, helping each student master core concepts and feel empowered to use math in daily life and school. We are experienced in teaching students with math-based learning differences and know how to break down tough concepts into manageable steps.
