About Kelly Calone
I graduated from Kean University with a degree in Special Education with dual certification in general and special education. I also earned my Dyslexia Practitioner certification from the Wilson Reading System and hold a certification in history.
Over the years, I have supported students with a range of learning needs, including:
Dyslexia
Autism
Attention Deficit Disorder
Specific learning and intellectual disabilities
Cognitive, communicative, and auditory impairments
Multiple disabilities
I regularly attend IEP meetings to support families through what can feel like a complex process. I offer to join these meetings so parents and students can feel confident and understood at every step.
Why I Care So Deeply
My journey into special education is personal. My older brother struggled in school and was labeled as lazy and uncooperative until he was diagnosed with dyslexia in seventh grade. After receiving the right instruction, his academic confidence soared. Witnessing his transformation inspired me to become a special education teacher and a certified dyslexia practitioner.
My goal is to bring that same sense of hope and growth to every child I serve, helping them unlock their full reading and learning potential.
