Dyslexia Tutoring
Dyslexia tutoring at Dyslexia Practitioner NJ is designed for students in grades 2 through 12 and for adults who have a language-based learning disability such as dyslexia or those who have not yet internalized the sound symbol-system for reading and spelling.
Our program uses the Wilson Reading System, a trusted and evidence-based method that helps learners of all ages gain reading skills and confidence. The Wilson approach stands out for its structure, research backing, and ability to adapt to individual needs.
What Makes Our Program Different
Research-backed, structured literacy instruction built on over twenty years of successful results in schools and districts.
A systematic and cumulative approach that teaches the total structure of words for both reading and spelling. We focus on the six main syllable types so students can decode and encode with confidence.
A Program That Grows With Your Child
The Wilson Reading System is a comprehensive program that follows students across grades and stages. Every lesson aligns with recommendations from the International Dyslexia Association, ensuring instruction is explicit, direct, cumulative, and focused on how language works.
We use a multisensory approach—combining sight, sound, touch, and movement—to strengthen the connections needed for fluent reading and spelling.
How the Wilson’s Reading Lesson Plan Works
Each session is divided into three blocks, making sure instruction is balanced and covers every essential reading skill:
Lesson Plan Parts 1 to 5
Thirty minutes of word study, phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, single word accuracy, phrasing, fluency, and comprehension at the sentence level.
Lesson Plan Parts 6 to 8
Thirty minutes of spelling, sight word instruction, vocabulary, and proofreading.
Lesson Plan Parts 9 to 10
Every tutoring plan is customized for the individual student’s strengths, needs, and pace. We believe in encouragement, patience, and real progress for every learner.
